While Inter officially sell Franco Carboni to Empoli, Spanish reports suggest Denzel Dumfries was offered to Barcelona by agent Jorge Mendes with a €25m release clause.

This afternoon, the Nerazzurri formally announced that Franco Carboni, a 22-year-old left-back and brother to fellow Inter player Valentin Carboni, had joined Empoli on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.

The Argentine had been on their books since 2020 and had loan experiences at Cagliari, Monza, Ternana, River Plate, and Venezia.

Dumfries release clause a danger for Inter

Meanwhile, Sport newspaper in Spain suggest that agent Jorge Mendes proposed Dumfries to Barcelona in a recent meeting.

While the report states that Barca directors were enthusiastic about the move, it will be very difficult for them to get it over the line before the €25m release clause expires at the end of July.

The Blaugrana have other priorities right now in different areas of the squad that require reinforcement.

Last season, the 29-year-old Dutch international scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 47 competitive appearances.
