Lionel Messi has extended his contract with Inter Miami CF. The club announced it on Thursday in a social media post with the caption "he's home."

The agreement is for three years, until the end of the 2028 MLS season. The announcement comes a few months before Miami Freedom Park is ready, a stadium that the club has been building near the city's international airport.

The contract extension of Messi, 38, is an important boost for ticket sales for this new stadium. "It makes me really happy to stay here and to continue with this project that, besides being a dream, has become a beautiful reality," Messi said.

"Playing in this stadium, at Miami Freedom Park. Since I arrived in Miami, I’ve been very happy, so I’m truly glad to keep going here."

Recently, his teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba announced that they will retire professionally from soccer at the end of the current season, which generated uncertainty about the future of Inter Miami's #10. The suspicions ended with this announcement.
