Inter Milan 0-1 AC Milan – Swiss Veteran Emerges As Main Culprit For Nerazzurri Derby Defeat

Inter Milan goalkeeper Yann Sommer emerged as the main culprit for his side’s frustrating 1-0 defeat in last night’s Derby della Madonnina.

According to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport via FCInterNews, AC Milan’s second-half winner ‘is on his conscience.’

Cristian Chivu fell to a 1-0 loss on his touchline debut in this fixture as Christian Pulisic inspired the Rossoneri to a scrappy win.

However, Mike Maignan won the ‘Man of the Match’ award for a brilliant performance in goal.

Indeed, the Frenchman’s memorable performance condemned Inter to their first scoreless outing this season.

Yann Sommer Falters in Inter 0-1 AC Milan Loss

In contrast to his Milan counterpart, Sommer endured another rough game.

His poor reaction to Alexis Saelemaekers’ long-range effort set Pulisic up for the winner.

Therefore, after faltering in Inter’s 4-3 Derby d’Italia defeat to Juventus in September, the 36-year-old flopped in another big match.

Yet, it would be unfair to put all the blame on him.

Indeed, Manuel Akanji lost track of Pulisic, allowing the USMNT forward to run behind him and get on the end of the rebound.
