Inter Milan defender Carlos Augusto was named as Man of the Match in the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 win over Sassuolo on Sunday evening.

Head coach Cristian Chivu moved the Brazilian into the three-man defence for today’s game, resting Alessandro Bastoni.

The defender was responsible for Inter’s second goal, when a deflected effort from Augusto ricocheted into the back of the net.

Speaking to DAZN after the game, with quotes via FCInterNews, the Brazilian said his side “showed the desire to win.”

Inter Milan 2-1 Sassuolo: MOTM Carlos Augusto On Ideal Role

“There are no easy games,” Augusto continued, “We did everything we could to bring it home.”

It is just Inter’s second win in the league this season and their first since their opening game thumping of Torino.

Head coach Cristian Chivu has typically utilised Augusto in rotation with Federico Dimarco on the left flank.

However, Chivu used him in the back-three against the Neroverdi.

DAZN asked the Brazilian about his preferred role, to which he admitted “It’s better to play more than one role.”

The reporter told Augusto he has become a third-choice midfielder.

“We’re an attacking team, so the third-choice midfielder becomes like a fifth.

“I like playing both roles to help the team,” he concluded.

Carlos Augusto played 50 times for Inter in all competitions last season and has five appearances so far this campaign.
