Barcelona faces competition from the Champions League finalist Inter Milan to sign Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford this summer window. Rashford remains available for sale as he is not a part of Ruben Amorim’s long-term project with Man United.

The Red Devils appointed Amorim to replace Erik ten Hag in the middle of the last season, hoping for quick rejuvenation. However, the current United squad lacks the aptitude to adjust to the philosophical and tactical demands set by the Portuguese.

Amorim immediately let the likes of Rashford and Antony leave on a season-long loan deal during the January transfer window. Rashford enjoyed a good rejuvenation in his form at Aston Villa until suffering an untimely injury to end his season.

However, the short loan spell provided enough of a glimpse to both the player and United that mutually parting ways is beneficial. The 27-year-old attacker made 17 appearances for Villa in all competitions last season, scoring five goals and providing five assists.

The England international needs a stable environment where he can flourish with confidence, without the pressure of fulfilling big expectations. Those expectations played a big role in his failure to repeat the prolific form he showed during the 2022-23 season.

According to Fichajes, Barcelona are facing tough competition from Inter to sign Rashford from United during the summer transfer window. The Italian giants are going through massive changes as their manager, Simone Inzaghi, has parted ways to start fresh elsewhere.

Inter are facing a major financial problem, just like Barcelona, but United’s valuation for Rashford remains £40 million this summer. While Man United maintain their preference to permanently sell Rashford, instead of another loan deal, his salary remains a problem.

After the incredible goalscoring form in the 2022-23 season, United assumed that Rashford’s inconsistency was behind him, leading to a new lucrative contract until 2028, in which he earns £325,000 a week.

That contract is a big headache for the Red Devils, who are trying to get their wage expenses under control. At the same time, United need to raise funds by selling their surplus to support Amorim during the summer window.
