Inter and Atletico Madrid will play a friendly in Benghazi, Libya, during the international break on October 10, ahead of their upcoming Champions League clash at the end of November.

The match will be part of the “Reconstruction Cup”, an initiative supported by the Libyan Fund for Development and Reconstruction.

According to reports from Spain and confirmed in Italy by news agency Nova, via FCInterNews, an agreement has been signed by Ageila El Alabar, director of international cooperation of the Fund, under the supervision of general director Belgassem Haftar.

The two meet in the Champions League later this year and the friendly will be a good test.

The last time they met, the La Liga side knocked the Nerazzurri out of the Champions League.

Benghazi Friendly Scheduled For International Break Between Inter Milan & Atletico

The aim is to showcase newly rebuilt infrastructure and to help relaunch the city’s image after years of conflict.

Therefore, the match will take place at the Benghazi International Stadium, which holds 41,500 spectators.

Earlier this year, the stadium was inaugurated with a celebratory game involving AC Milan legends and African football icons.

Turkish and Libyan companies constructed the stadium in record time.

Furthermore, it features a hybrid grass surface combining natural turf with synthetic reinforcement.

The match will kick-off on Friday, October 10, at 18:00 local time.
