Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez is set to start in Argentina’s last game of the international break, after coming on as a substitute and scoring against Venezuela to overtake Diego Maradona in the country’s all-time scoring charts.
According to reports from TyC Sports, via FcInterNews.it, the Argentine forward will start the match against Ecuador.
The fixture itself will take place on Wednesday 10 September at 00:00 UK time (01:00 CEST).
At present, Argentina sit on top of the South American World Cup qualifying table, with twelve wins from seventeen matches.
Therefore, barring any unexpected complications, Martinez and Liverpool midfielder Alexis MacAllister will both return to the starting line-up.
Inter Milan will be hoping that the Argentine does not suffer any complications in the match against Ecuador.
Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri have a key test coming up on Saturday night and will need every player available.
Cristian Chivu’s side will travel to Turin and take on Juventus in the Derby d’Italia.
The two rivals will go head-to-head in a big early test for both teams.
Therefore, Chivu will want Lautaro in as good a condition as possible, with the Argentine likely to play a big part in the fixture.
