Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi has successfully undergone abdominal surgery.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that the 25-year-old is on track to return to training ahead of the start of the Serie A season.

Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi has been dealing with a persistent abdominal problem.

The former Sassuolo midfielder suffered the issue during Inter’s Champions League semifinal tie against Barcelona.

Specifically, Frattesi suffered an inguinal hernia. This plagued him through the last few weeks of the season.

Furthermore, the Italian international was unable to feature at the Club World Cup. He returned early from the United States.

Davide Frattesi underwent surgery to correct the inguinal hernia today.

And Sky Sport Italia confirm that the procedure was a complete success.

Therefore, Inter are now waiting for Frattesi to recover from the surgery. There is no rush, as the start of the new season is still several weeks away.

Sky Sport report that the 25-year-old will be able to return to training in due time, though.

Inter’s preseason training camp will begin around the 26th of July, reportedly. Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri start their Serie A season with a match against Torino on August 25th.

And Sky report that Davide Frattesi can return to training with the rest of his teammates with plenty of time to prepare for that league opener.
