Inter Milan are monitoring the situation of Bayern Munich and France star Dayot Upamecano – whose contract with the Bundesliga giants expires next summer.
However, Bayern Director of Sport, Max Eberl, has told Sky Sport DE that “discussions are already underway” regarding a new deal.
“It is no secret that we want to renew Upamecano’s contract,” Eberl continued, with discussions taking place “openly.”
Inter, meanwhile, see the French centre-back as a potential low-cost addition to bolster their side next summer.
Whilst Bayern have already commenced renewal talks, the Nerazzurri will be waiting in the wings in case discussions collapse.
Inter are not the only team interested in the Frenchman, however, with Premier League side Liverpool and Real Madrid reportedly interested.
The 26-year-old joined Bayern in 2021 from fellow Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.
Since his arrival in Munich, the centre-back has played 158 times in all competitions.
He is also a regular starter for France, competing with the likes of Ibrahima Konate and William Saliba for minutes for Les Bleus.
