Inter Milan President Eager To Appoint First Foreign Manager For The First Time In 46-Year Career

Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta wants to appoint Cesc Fabregas as Simone Inzaghi’s heir at San Siro in the coming days.

Per Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, it would be a historic appointment for the 68-year-old.

During his successful 48-year career as a senior executive at Inter and Juventus, Marotta has never signed a foreign manager.

As bizarre as it sounds, Fabregas’ potential appointment would mark the first time Marotta entrusts a foreigner with the reins.

However, desperate times require desperate measures.

Inter’s initial idea was to continue with Simone Inzaghi.

Yet, the ex-Lazio coach has had other plans, leaving the Nerazzurri strapped for time.

Indeed, they’ll contest the FIFA Club World Cup in a fortnight and cannot afford to leave the post vacant by then.

Therefore, they’ve accelerated talks to sign Cesc Fabregas.

Meanwhile, Cristian Chivu, Patrick Vieira, and Roberto De Zerbi are other possible candidates for the job.

Furthermore, Thiago Motta and Raffaele Palladino are on the list.

However, Atalanta are considering both after parting with Gian Piero Gasperini.
