Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries is likely to make his third consecutive Serie A start when Roma roll into town on Sunday.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Dutchman has hit his stride during March’s international break.
Head coach Cristian Chivu was unable to call upon the 29-year-old star for a large chunk of the season.
Indeed, the former PSV Eindhoven defender suffered a nasty ankle injury in Inter’s home win over Lazio in early November.
As a result, Denzel Dumfries has missed 23 matches this season. However, he has recently returned to action, featuring in Inter’s last three league outings.
Despite returning to the pitch earlier this month, Dumfries’ recent performances have failed to impress.
Indeed, he was part of the starting lineup that shared the spoils with Atalanta and Fiorentina in the last two Serie A rounds.
However, the Dutchman provided an assist in the Netherlands’ come-from-behind 2-1 win over Norway last Thursday.
Dumfries set up Tijjani Reijnders for his side’s second goal, showing glimpses of his trademark explosiveness and attacking intent.
Meanwhile, Dumfries scored his first Serie A goal against Roma back in the 2021/22 season.
