Inter will be without their first-choice goalkeeper Yann Sommer for Friday evening’s friendly against Atletico Madrid in Benghazi, Libya, part of the Reconstruction Cup.
According to Sky Sport, via FCInterNews, Sommer has been sidelined by a mild flu syndrome and will not travel with the team.
The Swiss shot-stopper remains in Milan to recover, opening the door for Josep Martinez to start between the posts.
Martinez and Sommer have been rotated by head coach Cristian Chivu this season.
Summer’s contract is due to expire next summer and the Nerazzurri are reportedly integrating Martinez to take over as number one.
Chivu is already without a large number of players away on international duty.
Marcus Thuram will also miss the game, dealing with a minor hamstring issue suffered against Slavia Prague.
The match will allow several squad players to gain valuable minutes, including Luis Henrique and Andy Diouf.
The two have struggled for minutes so far this season.
Therefore, both will use the friendly to show what they can do.
Inter take part in the Libyan event that will reportedly earn both clubs around €3 million each.
