The Glazers have once again found themselves at the centre of ownership speculation after Manchester United moved closer to another significant off-field development.
Earlier this summer, reports claimed some members of the Glazer family were considering selling part, or even all, of their shares after more than 20 years in charge.
The reports quickly raised hopes among supporters who have spent years calling for a full sale.
Anti-Glazer protests have become a regular sight at Old Trafford.
In January 2026, supporters’ group The 1958 announced fresh demonstrations and called for a vote of no confidence in both the Glazers and INEOS following Ruben Amorim’s departure.
The group labelled Manchester United a “toxic partnership” and urged supporters to continue protesting.
The campaign against the Glazers stretches back many years.
Back in 2023, The 1958 organised Glazer Out protests while demanding clarity over the club’s future ownership.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe now controls football operations through INEOS, but Manchester United’s ownership continues to divide opinion among supporters.
The latest development is not a takeover despite renewed speculation over the club’s ownership.
According to StreetInsider, London-based investment adviser Boldhaven Management LLP has acquired a 5.6 per cent beneficial interest in Manchester United’s Class A ordinary shares.
A Schedule 13G filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission shows the firm beneficially owns 3,113,537 Class A shares.
The filing states that Boldhaven holds the shares on behalf of clients.
It also confirms that no individual client owns more than five per cent of Manchester United’s outstanding shares.
The filing adds that the investment was made in the ordinary course of business and was not intended to influence or change control of the club.
Boldhaven Management LLP is based at 100 Wigmore Street in London.
The firm submitted the filing after passing the five per cent reporting threshold.
The investment represents another purchase of Manchester United’s publicly traded Class A shares.
However, the Glazer family and INEOS remain at the centre of the club’s ownership structure.
