Simone Inzaghi could change Inter Milan’s formation if the club sign midfielder Nico Paz this summer transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInter1908.

It is hardly a secret that Inter Milan are targeting Como midfielder Nico Paz this summer.

The Nerazzurri see the 20-year-old as an absolute “dream” signing.

Paz is a player who Inter see as versatile to play a few different roles in attack and midfield.

Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi believes that he could turn Paz into an out-and-out central midfielder.

This would be similar to how the coach transformed Luis Alberto into a midfielder at Lazio.

The Spaniard had started out as a second striker for the Biancocelesti. However, he gradually transitioned to playing a deeper role.

Inzaghi Could Change Inter Milan Formation If Nico Paz Signs

In the meantime, Inzaghi could play Nico Paz in a more attacking role.

The Argentine has played as a Number Ten for Como under Cesc Fabregas.

There is not really a direct analogue to that position in the 3-5-2 shape that Inter typically play under Inzaghi.

The Inter coach typically plays with two out-and-out strikers, and a midfield trio who are all expected to offer a lot on both sides of the ball.

Paz might not fit into any role in that time right away.

However, Inzaghi has showed some versatility with his tactics.

For example, the Nerazzurri coach switched to a 3-4-2-1 shape against Torino last weekend. With a shortage of available midfielders, Nicola Zalewski played behind Mehdi Taremi along with Joaquin Correa.

That system looked very effective against Torino. Accordingly, Tuttosport suggests, Inzaghi could start employing it more next season.

This would offer a fairly natural role for Paz in attacking midfield. As, for that matter, would a switch to a 3-4-1-2 shape.
