Simone Inzaghi wants Inter Milan to give everything to try and overtake Napoli in Serie A, and then shift all the focus to PSG.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, report that the Nerazzurri coach is firing up his team and aiming to juggle the different priorities.
Inter Milan are heading into their final two league matches of the season.
The Nerazzurri host Lazio in Serie A this Sunday. Then on the final day of the campaign they travel to in-form Como.
There is also the prospect of a playoff against Napoli.
Should Inter and Napoli finish level on points, they will play a one-off match for the title.
Meanwhile, Inter also face Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the Champions League on May 31st.
According to the Gazzetta, Inzaghi has given his players a clear message in training.
The Inter Milan coach insists that the team must not lose focus in the league.
Inter may be behind Napoli at the top of the Serie A table. Therefore, their fate is not in their own hands as far as their league title defense goes.
However, Inter are certainly hoping that Napoli slip up again, as they did against Genoa last weekend.
Accordingly, Inzaghi still feels everything is to play for.
The last thing Inter want is for Napoli to drop points, but for themselves to as well. If the Partenopei stumble, they feel they must capitalize.
Keeping focus won’t be easy. The scheduling chaos caused by the prospect of a league title playoff means that Inter don’t even know when their final league match will be yet.
But Inzaghi feels that ending the Serie A season strongly – even if they don’t win the title – is key for approaching the Champions League final against PSG with the right kind of momentum.
