Bukayo Saka will not be part of Arsenal’s squad for their UEFA Champions League clash with Slavia Praha in the Czech Republic on Wednesday, November 4. The England international is still recovering from a quadriceps injury, and Mikel Arteta has yet another selection dilemma to deal with before a crucial European match.
The Gunners come into Matchday 4 with seven points from their first three games, having beaten Napoli and Lille and drawn at Bayern Munich. Meanwhile, Slavia Praha have yet to win a game and will be hoping to exploit Arsenal’s injury woes at the Fortuna Arena.
No, Saka won’t be playing against Slavia Praha. The Arsenal winger was forced to leave the match after 10 minutes, after picking up a quadriceps injury in the Champions League draw against Bayern Munich.
The 25-year-old has since missed the past three games for Arsenal and is unlikely to be brought back into action by Arteta.
The Arsenal manager had previously said that Saka would have to be scanned again to check the injury and if the tendon was also damaged.
He is not expected to play against Slavia or Hull City before the international break, but his return date is still unclear.
The good news is that William Saliba is back to full training after recovering from a back injury. The defender has been ready to play after 45 minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly, Arteta confirmed.
Eberechi Eze is still a question mark following a fitness problem before Liverpool’s game. Declan Rice, Noni Madueke, Riccardo Calafiori and Christos Tzolis are available.
The hosts will be without Tomas Chory, who is suspended, as well as Igoh Ogbu, Hamidou Kante and Elias Pitak. Ivan Schranz, Lukas Provod, and Ange N’Guessan are among the injury and fitness doubts.
Slavia Praha (3-4-2-1): Domchak; Vlcek, Holes, Zima; Suleiman, Moses, Sadilek, Kubiak; Ayaosi, Sturm; Nowak
Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapie; Lewis-Skelly, Rice; Dowman, Odegaard, Eze; Gyokeres.
