The Portuguese national team will play against Armenia in their first World Cup qualifier. They are in a group with Armenia, Hungary, and Ireland.

Portugal will play the World Cup qualifiers after having just won the UEFA Nations League for the second time in their history. They drew 202 with Spain in the final but won 5-3 on penalties.

Cristiano Ronaldo played in the final and scored to give Portugal the equalizer and send the game to extra time. The 40-year-old striker continues to be the face of the Portuguese national team.

Ronaldo was once again called up for the Portuguese national team ahead of the two World Cup qualifiers for this international break. Portugal will first play against Armenia away from home and then visit Hungary.

Most of the sqaud includes players who won the UEFA Nations League earlier this summer, like Ronaldo, Vitinha, Pedro Neto, Ruben Dias, Bruno Fernandes, and Nuno Mendes.

Cristiano Ronaldo Expected to Start vs Armenia

Cristiano Ronaldo is not only set to play against Armenia but also expected to start the match. This is Portugal's first World Cup qualifier and the Portuguese national team will aim for their first three points.

Ronaldo was seen training ahead of the match against Armenia. Portugal's head coach, Roberto Martinez, spoke ahead of the match against Armenia.

Martinez continues to praise Ronaldo as the vocal point of the team, but he will also be cautious with the amount of minutes he plays the Portuguese star due to his busy schedule.
