Is James Rodriguez Playing Tonight for Minnesota United vs Vancouver Whitecaps?

Minnesota United will play its fourth MLS game of the new season against the Vancouver Whitecaps away at BC Place.

Minnesota United will need to bounce back after losing 3-1 to Nashville SC away from home last weekend. The Vancouver Whitecaps are set to be a challenging opponent given their form at the start of the 2026 MLS season.

Vancouver Whitecaps have three wins from three games played, but Minnesota United could get a boost as the team may finally see James Rodriguez make his debut.

The Colombian attacking midfielder was part of Minnesota United's squad for the match against FC Cincinnati two weeks ago, but he did not get any minutes. Rodriguez was not part of the squad for last weekend's match against Nashville.

James Rodriguez is expected to be part of the Minnesota United sqaud against the Vancouver Whitecaps, and the Colombian star hinted that he could finally make his MLS debut in Canada today.

James Rodriguez Reveals MLS Debut Date

In a live stream, James Rodriguez was asked when he would make his MLS debut with Minnesota United, after not playing a single game in the first three matchweeks.

Rodriguez states that his debut will be against the Vancouver Whitecaps and names Thomas Muller, who was his former teammate at Bayern Munich.

Rodriguez said, "Next weekend, I will play on Sunday. Yes, [I will make my MLS debut] Against (Thomas) Muller’s team, Vancouver."

It is unclear whether Rodriguez will start and come off the bench, but fans will likely get to see the Colombia star get his first minutes in the MLS.
