The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is set to have an anticipated match between Real Madrid and PSG. Many soccer fans look forward to watching the game as Kylian Mbappe will play against his former club after joining Real Madrid.
The transfer saga that involved Mbappe, PSG, and Real Madrid ended last summer when the French star decided to join Los Blancos on a free transfer.
His decision not to sign a new contract with PSG and let his contract run out to join Real Madrid on a free transfer caused controversy in France.
Mbappe and Real Madrid did not play against PSG throughout the 2024-25 season until now, but the French star is not guaranteed to start the game.
Mbappe is fit and has played two games for Real Madrid in the Club World Cup after missing the group stage due to an illness. The French star scored his first goal in the Club World Cup against Borussia Dortmund in the previous game.
Kylian Mbappe is expected to play against PSG, having trained ahead of the match at MetLife Stadium.
Mbappe scored an overhead kick against Dortmund, which sealed a 3-2 win in the quarterfinal. His goal has fans desperate to see the French star start against PSG.
Gonzalo Garcia continues to score goals for Real Madrid and has scored four goals in the Club World Cup. Xabi Alonso has rewarded players like Garcia, who have delivered on the pitch with more consistent minutes.
While Garcia is expected to start against PSG, Mbappe may also start along with Garcia. Xavi Alonso was not opposed to playing Mbappe and Garcia together from the start and tried it against Dortmund for nearly 20 minutes.
Mbappe's goal vs Dortmund was historic as he became the first player ever to score in seven different competitions in a single season for Real Madrid. It is a rare record in soccer as more competitions have been.
Mbappe scored in the UEFA Super Cup, La Liga, Champions League, Copa del Rey, Intercontinental Cup, Spanish Super Cup, and now the Club World Cup.

Mbappe has scored 44 goals in 58 appearances for Real Madrid this past season. He scored 31 goals in La Liga, two goals in the Copa del Rey, and seven goals in the Champions League.
This will be the fifth time Mbappe plays against PSG, as he faced them four times while playing for AS Monaco. He never scored against Les Parisiens, and many expect him to do it as a Real Madrid player.
