LAFC will play in the MLS playoffs tonight against Austin FC, and it will be the third time they face Austin FC this year.
The last two times they faced each other, Austin FC defeated LAFC 1-0. They recently played in the regular season on October 12, 2025. In both matches, LAFC star Son Heung-Min did not play in the game.
The South Korean arrived in August and has made a significant impact on the pitch for LAFC. After the international break in October, Son played one game for LAFC, which was against the Colorado Rapids on October 18, 2025.
Son scored against the Colorado Rapids, which finished 2-2 on Decision Day. With LAFC back at the BMO Stadium since early October, many fans hope that Son Heung-Min will be back in action.
Not only is Son Heung-Min expected to play Game 1 of the first round of the MLS playoffs against Austin FC, but the South Korean forward is expected to start the match.
With only a few months at the club, LAFC views Son as the star of the team, and his impact on the pitch has made LAFC one of the favorites not only to win the Western Conference but to win the MLS Cup this year.
Ahead of the match tonight, LAFC posted a short video of Son Heung-Min scoring goals ahead of the match against Austin FC with a message.
Son Heung-Min said, "You don't have to worry about me. I will cross the line for the fans and for this team."
