Italian journalist Marco Bellinazzo warned the Milan City Council of risks if the San Siro agreement with AC Milan and Inter falls through.

According to the Il Sole 24 Ore journalist via FCInterNews, refusing to sell the stadium to the Milan clubs would be a ‘political suicide.’

The fate of San Siro is hanging in the balance.

Indeed, the City Council will begin voting on the sale of this iconic stadium to the Serie A giants tomorrow.

Furthermore, the clubs expect to learn the final verdict by Monday, with their bid to purchase the venue expiring next Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Beppe Marotta has opened up the possibility of building a new stadium somewhere else.

However, it’s only a backup plan, as Inter and Milan remain confident of finally getting the green light from the city.

Both clubs have emphasized that securing San Siro is a top priority.

Yet, it’s up to the city to decide.

Marco Bellinazzo Delivers Verdict on AC Milan & Inter Bid to Purchase San Siro

“If the City of Milan, after years of indecision and stalling, were to deny Inter and AC Milan the opportunity to build a new stadium at San Siro, it would be one of the most spectacular political suicides in Italian history,” he wrote on X.

Milan and Inter are keen to build a new state-of-the-art stadium in the San Siro district.

Therefore, they have been in talks with the city for over a year.

However, negotiations have been slow, with key decisions repeatedly postponed amid political and bureaucratic hurdles.

Yet, with the deadline fast approaching, there’s no more wriggle room.

Indeed, the City Council must reach a verdict by the start of next week.

On the other hand, Beppe Sala has refused the possibility of the Milan clubs designing the new stadium elsewhere.
