Italian journalist Fabio Caressa has backed Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta over his recent statement about San Siro.

Speaking to Sky Sport via FCInter1908, Caressa hailed Marotta’s blunt

Beppe Marotta is growing tired of waiting for the San Siro resolution.

Indeed, it’s taking a lot more than expected for AC Milan and Inter to acquire the stadium and the surrounding areas.

Therefore, Marotta issued a warning to the city of Milan regarding the issue after last night’s win over Sassuolo.

Despite confirming it as a priority, the Nerazzurri chief admitted the club would be ready to look elsewhere.

It’s now up to the Milan City Council to decide.

However, time is ticking, with Milan and Inter already exploring alternative options.

Meanwhile, there’s a widespread opinion that letting the clubs to purchase San Siro would be in the city’s best interest.

Since the stadium is out of date, there’s no point in preserving it at the cost of progress.

Indeed, updating or rebuilding a modern venue would better serve both the clubs and the city’s sporting future.

Fabio Caressa Backs Inter Milan President Beppe Marotta Amid San Siro Dispute

“Marotta’s words were very clear,” Caressa stated. “Specific newspapers have reported on it, suggesting that between four and seven members of the majority might vote against the San Siro project.

“The problem is that those who say no don’t offer alternatives.

“They don’t say that we won’t rebuild San Siro, but will do it elsewhere. They just say no because San Siro is a work of art.

“You can enter museums, go to the Colosseum. But they aren’t functional for everyday life in the city; it’s not like they still hold shows at the Colosseum.

“There are stadiums that are 60 years old – imagine the gap with the rest. They demolished Wembley, and the new Bernabeu looks like science fiction.”
