Italy and PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was left visibly shaken after impact with Jamal Musiala caused a serious injury for the Bayern Munich forward during the Club World Cup.
The Azzurri star had made several big saves in this quarter-final in Atlanta to keep the scoreline level and rushed out to smother at the feet of Musiala just before half-time.
However, in an entirely accidental situation, Musiala landed heavily and seemed to fracture his left ankle as he fell.
Donnarumma was the first to see what had happened up close and was visibly traumatised by the scene, aware immediately of just how serious this was.
Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain players consoled Donnarumma, reassuring him that this was not in any way his fault, as Musiala received treatment.
The 22-year-old talent spent time in the Southampton and Chelsea youth academies before moving to Bayern Munich in 2020.
He already has 40 senior caps for Germany, scoring eight goals, and only recently signed a new contract to June 2030.
As for Donnarumma, he already experienced an unlucky injury of his own in December, an accidental clash leaving him with a large scar on his cheek.
