Robbie Keane has given his flowers to Tottenham players and staff for UEL success

Tottenham Hotspur managed to save their blushes at the end of the season after winning the Europa League against all odds. The Lilywhites beat Manchester United in the final and ended the long-standing trophy drought at N17 in spectacular fashion. Winning the competition also ensured Champions League qualification for next season.

However, the domestic failure has certainly dampened the mood around N17 following their historic achievement. Spurs finished the Premier League season just a place above the relegation zone and it is fair to say that they struggled to make an impact in the league. Ange Postecoglou’s men could not carve out a string of positive results and faced scrutiny from all sections of the fanbase for several weeks.

Now, the Lilywhites have the chance to kickstart a new era at Hotspur Way and use the Europa League success as a springboard for more trophies. Daniel Levy must invest heavily into the squad and sign new players in the summer. The North London club cannot get complacent in the transfer market as they look to close the gap on their rivals next season.

Robbie Keane believes Tottenham’s domestic failure cannot diminish UEL glory

Is this season a failure or a success for Tottenham? Well, many fans and pundits will have their own perspective about it. But the fact of the matter is that Spurs managed to end the campaign with a major trophy and they also qualified for Champions League football against all odds. The domestic campaign did not go as planned, but winning the Europa League final was more than enough to turn the mood around at N17.

Now, Robbie Keane has also doubled down and given his verdict on Tottenham’s ‘rollercoaster’ season. Speaking to talkSPORT, Keane said,

“To be honest with you, it’s been a poor season like Man United for Tottenham, certainly in the league. There’s no getting away from that. I think everybody, certainly the managers, admitted that. But I tell you what – as someone who’s played for Spurs, and my two kids are Spurs fans, I don’t think anyone cared at the end, because winning the trophy – at the end of the day it’s about winning.”

Robbie Keane has suggested that Tottenham endured a poor domestic campaign. But the Spurs legend has then insisted that the Premier League campaign will not matter to the fans in the coming years as the Lilywhites finally managed to win a trophy and end their trophy drought. Keane reiterates that football is about winning and that is the only thing that will matter in the end, despite the poor league position.

Well, it is fair to say that the Spurs fans and players are in celebratory mood after the Europa League success. But Daniel Levy still needs to address the problems in the squad as the Lilywhites look to start a new era at N17. The first order of business for Levy would be to address the managerial situation at the club and decide Big Ange’s fate. It is highly likely that Daniel Levy will end up sacking the Australian as Tottenham would look to start fresh for next season.
