Tottenham will look to kickstart a new era at N17 with Thomas Frank at the helm next season

The media spotlight never seems to escape Tottenham for one reason or another. The Lilywhites are always generating headlines at any given point of time and the fans have gotten used to it by now. For most parts of the season, the North London club were in the limelight for all the wrong reasons after enduring a disastrous Premier League campaign.

But Ange Postecoglou’s men managed to save their blushes in the end by winning the Europa League last month. Winning the competition also meant that the club’s 17-year wait for a major trophy had finally ended. Ideally, Big Ange would have been given a second chance to redeem himself in the Premier League next season. However, things work differently at Spurs….

The Australian tactician was sacked by Daniel Levy just two weeks after the Europa League success. Many fans and players thought that Big Ange would stay on for another season after doing the unthinkable. The ex-Celtic boss also announced that ‘season three’ would be better than the previous two seasons combined. But Levy thought otherwise and relieved the 59-year-old from his duties at N17.

Tottenham players must build on the UEL success next season

Tottenham confirmed the appointment of Thomas Frank as their new manager following Ange Postecoglou’s departure. Hiring the Danish tactician might just be a blessing in disguise, as the 51-year-old will inherit a strong squad following the Europa League success. The first order of business for Frank will be to get the players back on board and kickstart a new era at N17.

Now, club legend Jermain Defoe has urged the players to prove their critics wrong and play with intent next season. Speaking to Hayters TV, Defoe said,

“You look at a team that should go into the new campaign confident, regardless of losing 22 league games. Finishing how they finished, winning a European trophy, hopefully these players will go into next season with a point to prove and with the new manager, I think it’s a good time to be at Tottenham. When you look at the potential, at the infrastructure, the training ground, the stadium, the young kids coming through the academy, hopefully a few additions to the squad, it’s exciting times.”

Jermain Defoe insists that Tottenham players should feel confident heading into the new season following their Europa League success. The club legend added that the Lilywhites have a point to prove and having Thomas Frank at the helm will benefit the players massively. Defoe suggests that good times at N17 are around the corner as the squad has a lot of potential and talent, with good infrastructure and training grounds to bring out the best in them.

It remains to be seen where Spurs end up with Thomas Frank at the helm next season. But first, fans will hope that Daniel Levy brings in new players now that the managerial situation at the club is sorted out. The Lilywhites cannot get complacent and need to back the Danish tactician by bringing in the players he wants for next season.
