Jack Bonaventura Agent Flabbergasted by Italy Omission

Fiorentina star midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura will not feature for Italy at the upcoming European Championship after being omitted by Luciano Spalletti. Spalletti’s decision to exclude the veteran from his preliminary squad has left the player’s agent, Enzo Raiola. in disbelief.

“It’s a cold shower for Jack’s year and the results obtained by Fiorentina.” Bonaventura’s perplexed agent told Tuttosport, as quoted by Calciomercato. “I remain an Italy fan, and I hope the Azzurri can win the tournament, but it is inexplicable that Jack is not part of the Azzurri.

“I can’t decipher it. In my opinion, Bonaventure’s experience would have been important, as would his qualities. I consider the coach a high-level person, but I am convinced that the decision not to call him up is not all and only the result of his sole will. 

“Maybe I’m wrong, but it’s still my thought,” Raiola finished.

Bonaventura’s agent has a point. Italy would use a player of the Fiorentina star’s quality and experience in Germany. The Italians look to become the first side since Spain to defend the Euros crown and make amends for missing out on the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Spalletti’s selection choices have already caused unrest among Italy fans. The former Napoli coach has left Juventus ace Manuel Locatelli out of his preliminary squad but gave Nicolo Fagioli a call-up, even though the latter has been out of action all season due to suspension.

There’s still time for the Italy gaffer to change his mind, as Bonaventura does deserve to appear in Germany.
