Jadon Sancho rejected by Premier League leaders

Jadon Sancho once looked like English football’s next great entertainer.

Now, at 26, a career that promised the grandest stages has reached another sobering crossroads.

At Borussia Dortmund, Sancho played with freedom.

He produced 50 goals and 64 assists across 137 appearances, becoming one of Europe’s most coveted attackers after leaving Manchester City in search of opportunity.

Manchester United eventually came calling in 2021.

After a pursuit stretching across multiple transfer windows, Sancho arrived for around £73million carrying the expectation that he could illuminate Old Trafford.

Instead, the lights slowly went out.

He never reproduced his Dortmund numbers, and a public dispute with Erik ten Hag in 2023 eventually left him training away from United’s first team.

A temporary return to Dortmund followed before further loans to Chelsea and Aston Villa.

There were still flashes of the player United thought they had bought, including a run to the Champions League final with Dortmund, but there was no lasting revival.

Sancho’s United contract expired this summer, leaving him a free agent five years after arriving as one of the most exciting signings in European football.

Even without a transfer fee standing in the way, however, his search for a new home has now suffered another blow.

Jadon Sancho opportunity rejected

Russian outlet Championat reports that FC Krasnodar rejected the opportunity to sign Sancho after being offered the former United winger.

Sancho was reportedly willing to move to Russia, but Krasnodar decided against pursuing a deal and negotiations never reached an advanced stage.

The rejection comes from a club currently sitting top of the Russian Premier League after nine matches, with 21 points and no defeats.

Krasnodar have emerged as a major force remarkably quickly.

Founded only in 2008, they reached the Russian top flight in 2011 and won their first league title in 2024/25, ending Zenit Saint Petersburg’s six-year championship streak.

They finished runners-up last season and are now chasing another title.

For Sancho, once worth a fortune and wanted across Europe, even a free transfer has now been turned down.
