Manchester United’s January transfer window could be decisive in deciding the club’s final league position at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
Furthermore, for United, who currently sit sixth in the Premier League, the window offers the opportunity to improve depth and quality in key areas.
With this in mind, the Red Devils have been linked with players in areas of the field.
One of these areas is the midfield with Al-Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves linked with a move to Old Trafford recently.
However, with the obstacle of the midfielder’s wages in the way, a deal could be difficult.
Even with this, Neves has been recently contacted by Manchester United ahead of the January transfer window.
However, if a deal between Neves and United cannot be reached, the Red Devils could choose to pursue a deal for Kees Smit, who is wanted by United, as exclusively revealed by CentreDevils.
Meanwhile, whilst recruitment is important, retention is also arguably important to maintain depth and quality.
Now, with this in mind, Manchester United Women’s team have increased the chances of retaining of a key midfielder as January approaches.
Announcing the news on the official United website, the club has announced that Hinata Miyazawa has signed a new three-year contract with the club.
Miyazawa, who joined the club’s women’s team in 2023, has made 67 appearances for the team, scoring three times.
Speaking about the extension, Hinata Miyazawa stated: “I am really enjoying playing football at Manchester United and I am really happy to be continuing my journey here.”
Meanwhile, Matt Johnson, Director of Women’s Football, said: “We are really excited to have Hinata extend her time at Manchester United.
“She has become a critical component to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability enables her and the team to control and dictate play from central areas.”
With this contract now extended, attention could turn to see if this gives the Japanese international more confidence in her gameplay.
