Crystal Palace have been losing players left-right-and-centre over the last few years, with Jean-Philippe Mateta being the latest departure on the cards.
Michael Olise kicked things off in the summer of 2024, leaving The Eagles for Bayern Munich for £46 million.
Last summer, Eberechi Eze joined the list with his move to Arsenal, a move that was very nearly followed by Marc Guehi to Liverpool in the same window.
However, after the move collapsed on deadline day, Manchester City have swept in and signed the Palace captain.
Now, after announcing his desire to leave this winter, Mateta is set for a new chapter, remaining in the Premier League.
French outlet FootMercato has reported that Nottingham Forest have agreed terms with the attacker to move in the coming days.
The news comes on the back of Forest submitting a £35 million bid for the France international over the recent week.
However, this is understood to be just under Palace’s £40 million asking price, so at this time discussions between the clubs are ongoing, although at an advanced stage.
Forest haven’t been the only interested party however, with a bid from Juventus rejected this month, and Manchester United having kept tabs on him since before the summer.
Mateta was considered as a strong contender to remodel the Red Devils’ attack, being a proven Premier League player with 46 goals and nine assists in 153 league appearances for Palace.
Ultimately, United went with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo who are seemingly coming into their own now, with both having scored in their 3-2 win over league leaders Arsenal this weekend.
