John Terry concedes defeat in Chelsea vs Arsenal fight

John Terry believes Arsenal are clearly a better team than Chelsea at present, despite the arrival of Xabi Alonso and several expensive new signings.

Chelsea have struggled for consistency and relevance in recent seasons. During the summer, they appointed Alonso as manager and strengthened their squad with a number of big-money additions, including Morgan Rogers.

Those changes created excitement among Chelsea supporters, with some believing that the Blues could finish above Arsenal this season. Chelsea may enjoy a positive campaign if they can improve defensively, but Terry is not convinced that they are ready to surpass their London rivals.

Terry Backs Arsenal

When asked about Chelsea’s chances of finishing above Arsenal, Terry insisted that the Gunners remain considerably stronger.

Terry said via the Metro:

‘Unfortunately, it’s going to be Arsenal.

‘We [Chelsea] had a good start and we gave you guys [Arsenal] a good game actually.

‘Since that game we’ve been hit and miss to be honest and I think that’s going to be our season.’

His comments suggest that Chelsea’s inconsistent performances remain a major concern. A strong opening to the campaign has not been followed by the consistency required to challenge Arsenal over a full season.
