English football legend John Terry considers that Mohamed Salah is right to think he has been made a scapegoat following the recent crisis at Liverpool FC.
The former Chelsea player assumes that Arne Slot did not have a proper conversation with Salah to explain the reasons for dropping him.
"It’s a big call from the manager to leave him out completely, and not even bring him on," said Terry, in statements transcribed by SportBible.
"If you bring experienced players into the office and you explain, ‘I’m going to leave you out of the squad this week, these are the reasons why’… But being told that and being shown that respect from the manager is really important… But clearly those conversations haven’t gone on."
Goalkeeper Alisson Becker spoke publicly at a press conference about the situation, assuring that the Egyptian was not called up for the match against Inter Milan on Tuesday, Dec. 9, as a consequence of his own actions.
“Salah not being available is a consequence of what he did. He’s smart enough to know that,” said the Brazilian. “We have had a good relationship for a long time. He’s a legend for Liverpool. We will have a conversation, but it’s going to be private because it’s personal.”
Recently, Slot did not hide that not calling him up for the next Champions League game is a measure taken following the Egyptian’s words.
“Usually, I am calm and polite, but it doesn’t mean I’m weak. If a player says things or says, has these comments about so many things, then it’s about me as a club to react, and we reacted in a way. You can see now he is not here,” he said at a press conference.
