Jonny Evans has been a long-standing presence with Manchester United, having started and ended his playing career with The Red Devils after some stints away from the club.

Evans came through the United academy, progressing to the senior side and going out on loan spells to Royal Antwerp and Sunderland before leaving permanently to join West Brom in 2015

Three years later and the former centre-back joined Leicester City in 2018 where he spent five years before returning to Old Trafford on a free transfer.

Then, after two more years with the club, with a career total of 542 appearances, including playing 241 games for Manchester United, Jonny Evans hung up his boots this summer.

However, his retirement didn’t mean him leaving Carrington or Old Trafford, as the former Northern Ireland international was appointed to the role of Head of Loans.

In this role, Evans was in charge on monitoring the situations around loaned-out players and their development to ensure the move is right for the United star in question.

However, Training Ground Guru has now reported that Jonny Evans has stepped away from the role to spend more time with his family before deciding the next steps of his career.

The 37-year-old is understood to have stepped away amicably as United now look for a replacement.

With exciting prospects like Toby Collyer, Harry Amass, and Enzo Kana-Biyik out on loan as well as potential up coming loans for Sekou Kone and Diego Leon, the Head of Loans role is vital to be filled as soon as possible.

As such, with the Janaury transfer window less than a month away, United’s recruitment to the role will have to be timely to make the most out of the limited winter transfer window.
