Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks, and Atletico Madrid are looking to sign him.

According to journalist Ruben Uria via Esto Es Atleti, Gil Marin will hold a meeting with Daniel Levy regarding a potential move.

“For now, the story remains alive,” Uria said on his Twitch channel. “Cuti wants to leave and he’s been clear, there will be an important meeting that will determine the course of the signing.”

The defender has reportedly made it clear that he wants to leave and he wants us to change of scenery. However, Tottenham will not make it easy. Atletico Madrid might have to pay a premium in order to get the deal done.

Tottenham should keep Cristian Romero

The 27-year-old is a key player for them, and losing him would be devastating for the club. They have secured Champions League qualification for the next season, and they will be hoping to hold onto their best players so that they can build a formidable squad.

Romero has been the best defender for Tottenham this past season, and he produced a man-of-the-match performance in the UEFA Europa League final as well. Replacing him will be difficult for Tottenham. It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds.

Daniel Levy set for crucial talks

Recently, Ange Postecoglou also urged the player to hold onto the South American beyond this season.

Tottenham have had a disappointing season this year, and they will look to bounce back strongly with quality signings in the summer. They will not want to weaken the squad. It will be interesting to see what Daniel Levy decides after the meeting with Gil Marin.

If Tottenham decide to sell him, they must ensure a quality replacement with adequate experience this summer.
