Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo is an option for Tottenham to replace skipper Son Heung-min this summer

Tottenham Hotspur had a disastrous 2024/25 domestic season, but they salvaged it in the end by winning the Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League.

The future of Ange Postecoglou remains up in the air, but regardless of who their manager will be next season, new signings are a necessity. Given their lack of quality and depth in the squad, reinforcements are required in several areas of the pitch.

The futures of several key players are also currently uncertain at White Hart Lane, not least skipper Son Heung-min, who has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia. Spurs are willing to cash in on Son if they receive a good enough offer and reinvest the funds to sign a replacement. Daniel Levy is prepared to splash out on a marquee signing ahead of next season to help change the club’s fortunes.

Tottenham have been linked with Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo for a while now. The African star has established himself as one of the exciting attackers in the Premier League since the start of last season, catching the eye with his speed, dynamism, directness, physicality and flair. He has enjoyed the best top-flight campaign of his career, netting 11 goals and supplying six assists in 37 Premier League appearances for the Cherries.

Now, as per reliable journalist Dean Jones, Spurs could attempt to sign Antoine Semenyo this summer. He has revealed that the North Londoners are currently negotiating with Bayern Munich to sign Mathys Tel on a permanent deal, but with Son expected to leave the club and join a Saudi Pro League side, Levy could replace his skipper with Semenyo ahead of 2025/26 campaign.

“One man who could be joining him in the Saudi Pro League is Son Heung-min,” Dean Jones said on Transfers From Paradise podcast.

“He looks set to leave Spurs, which is no major surprise as that has been mooted for a while. One thing Spurs lose if he goes is experience that could be key for a Champions League campaign.

“At the moment, the club are pressing ahead with negotiations on a fee to take Mathys Tel on a permanent deal, but I am also starting to hear whispers that Antoine Semenyo is one of the players they could look to sign.”

Semenyo would be a terrific option to replace Son on the left flank in Tottenham’s attack. There is no doubt the Ghanaian international has the physicality and technical attributes to compete at a higher level, and he could improve Spurs going forward. He is exceptional when it comes to taking on defenders and beating them in 1v1 situations. The Bournemouth star will help the Lilywhites unlock deep defences with his technical ability and flair.

However, Spurs could face obstacle in their pursuit of the 25-year-old. Bournemouth will not entertain the sale of Semenyo if they see further key members of their squad head through the exit door in the coming weeks. Plus, the Cherries have slapped an eye-watering £75million price tag on their star winger’s head.

Thus, if Tottenham are really interested in Semenyo, they will not only have to pay a premium but also hope Bournemouth do not lose further key members of their squad in the next couple of weeks at least.
