Ivan Juric has ended a nightmare season as Southampton confirmed the ex-Roma coach’s exit after Premier League relegation.

Croatian coach Juric has agreed to leave Southampton with immediate effect after the Saints’ relegation from the Premier League.

It’s been a nightmare campaign for the ex-Torino and Genoa coach, who was previously sacked after just 12 games in charge of Roma. The 49-year-old had lost five games at the Olimpico, won four, and drawn three times.

Juric replaced club legend Daniele De Rossi in September, but was unable to turn things around in the capital, leaving Roma just two points above the drop zone.

Juric ends nightmare season with Southampton exit after relegation

The Giallorossi have climbed the table under Claudio Ranieri and are now just three points below a Champions League spot.

Juric’s time in Rome was marked by instability inside and outside the club. Fans were furious about De Rossi’s dismissal, and CEO Lina Souloukou stepped back just a few hours before the coach’s debut at the end of September.

The atmosphere at the Stadio Olimpico was toxic in Juric’s final games in charge, and the coach even refused to give a pre-match interview before his eventual last match against Bologna in November.

Juric was appointed by Southampton the following month, but the Saints’ situation was even worse than Roma’s, with the team sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table.

Juric only won two games from 16, losing 13 and drawing once and officially left the club on Monday after a mathematical relegation over the weekend.

While Roma fans were largely satisfied by Juric’s dismissal, Southampton fans paid respect to the Croatian tactician on Monday, as many argued on Instagram that avoiding relegation from the Premier League this season was an impossible task.
