Juventus briefly looked into the possibility of signing Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, before the player joined Napoli on a free transfer from Manchester City.

According to what has been reported by The Athletic, Juventus were one of the clubs that made initial contact with the player’s representatives when the 33-year-old revealed he would be leaving City.

The Bianconeri reportedly made a casual enquiry into signing the player but did not table any official offers. De Bruyne already had offers on the table from Napoli and Chicago Fire but Juventus, alongside Inter Miami and even Liverpool, considered a deal.

De Bruyne joins Napoli project

On June 12, Napoli confirmed their signing of Kevin De Bruyne to much jubilation from their fans. It would bring to an end ten years for the player at Manchester City – where the decorated midfielder won a plethora of team and individual honours.

The Belgian lifted six Premier League titles with the Cityzens and was named the division’s ‘Player of the Season’ in 2019-20 and 2021-22.
