Juventus have missed out on one of their transfer targets for the summer, as Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap has decided to join Chelsea.

The 22-year-old has been linked with the Bianconeri for many months and became even more intriguing on the transfer market when his club was relegated from the Premier League.

That means he is available for just €35m due to a release clause in his contract with Ipswich Town.

Numerous teams had the same idea, including Manchester United, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Everton.

Juventus had been in the race for Delap

However, The Athletic are confident today that Delap has made his choice, informing all the other clubs including Juventus that he is heading to Chelsea this season.

He will work with Italian coach Enzo Maresca, who is fresh from winning the Conference League in a 4-1 Final victory over Real Betis last night.

Delap scored 12 goals with two assists in 37 Premier League appearances this term, but was unable to prevent Ipswich Town’s relegation to the Championship.
