Kayserispor officially sign Manchester United attacker

If you asked most people, they would never have heard of Kayserispor.

The Turkish Super Lig side are one of the lesser known teams from Turkiye.

Managed by former Montenegro footballer Radomir Dalovic, they play in the Kadir Has Stadium in the city of Kayseri.

In terms of the 2025/26 season, Kayserispor are currently sat in the relegation places.

With that in mind, the club are looking to make some reinforcements in the January transfer window as they look to improve results in 2026.

Kayserispor have struggled at both ends of the pitch.

The team have conceded the most goals in the Super Lig this season and only three teams have scored less than their 16 goals this campaign.

And it seems that the management of the club are taking steps to at least rectify their goalscoring woes.

Their search has landed them in Manchester as they make their first signing of 2026.

Kayserispor have officially announced the signing of Manchester United forward Sam Mather on their Instagram page.

The transfer of Mather to Kayserispor has been rumoured for a while now and the Turkish club have now signed and sealed the deal.

Kayserispor have confirmed that the player has joined the club on a 2 and a half year contract.

The news has also been officially confirmed by Manchester United on their website also.

Sam Mather, who can play as a winger or wide forward, hasn’t been able to force his way into the Manchester United first team despite spells out on loan at the likes of Rochdale and Tranmere Rovers.

The 21-year-old will now look to build his career in Turkey as he looks forward to top flight football.

Mather joining Kayserispor will be a high profile signing for the Turkish side, who are not known for signing players from England’s biggest team.

Kayserispor will hope that Sam Mather can help them this season and play an important role in their bid to avoid relegation and continue playing in the Super Lig next season.
