Fiorentina striker Moise Kean has been forced to withdraw from the Italy national team squad as a result of his latest injury, and has been replaced by Bologna’s Nicolo Cambiaghi, the FIGC have confirmed.
Kean had originally been included alongside Mateo Retegui and Francesco Pio Esposito in the centre-forward department of Gennaro Gattuso’s latest Italy national team squad for November’s crucial World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Norway.
However, Kean has recently suffered bruising to his tibia, an issue that also kept him out of Paolo Vanoli’s first match in charge of Fiorentina, which resulted in a 2-2 draw with Genoa on Sunday.
That same issue with Kean’s tibia will also rule him out of action for the Italy national team. He will be replaced by Bologna’s Cambiaghi, a statement confirmed.
“Kean out, Cambiaghi in. There is a forced change in Gennaro Gattuso’s list of call-ups for the last two World Cup qualifying matches against Moldova (November 13) and Norway (November 16).
“The Fiorentina striker, injured with his club, will not be able to respond to the call-up. The coach has decided to call up Bologna forward Nicolo Cambiaghi in his place. He made his debut for the national team in the final minutes of the match against Israel in Udine on October 14.”
