Kevin Danso senses Tottenham ‘opportunity’ as Doncaster Rovers make Carabao Cup call

Some might say that the Carabao Cup might be the only major trophy that Thomas Frank’s men could win this season. So, the Lilywhites need to take the competition seriously and aim to go all the way to the promised land by playing well. This is also a chance for some of the players to prove their worth by showcasing their talents and impress Frank.

Tottenham defender Kevin Danso wants to take each game as it comes in the Carabao Cup

Tottenham centre-back Kevin Danso has made it clear that the Lilywhites are aiming to add more silverware to their trophy cabinet this season. The Austria international wants to build on last year’s Europa League success, and has highlighted the importance of winning the Carabao Cup as a result of that. The 27-year-old wants Spurs to take the competition seriously and take each game as it comes.

Speaking in the Matchday Programme for the North London club (via the official Tottenham Hotspur website), Danso has said,

“We’re a top club and we want to cement that by winning more trophies. This is another opportunity and we want to take it. As I said, once you win that first one, you just want more and to experience that feeling again. To do that, we have to take every game seriously and that includes tonight. There is no pressure on Doncaster.”

The defender added,

“Sometimes these are the hardest games because they are seen to the outside world as an easy win for the higher team, but the lower league sides come out and play with freedom, they have nothing to lose and that makes them dangerous. But we know if we focus on ourselves, treat the game like any other, then there’s an opportunity to win the tie and move on in this competition.”

Kevin Danso wants to win more trophies with Tottenham and has highlighted the importance of the Carabao Cup in terms of achieving that goal. The Austria international, however, has urged his teammates to not tread lightly and take each game as it comes in the competition. Danso believes the game against Doncaster Rovers might not be as easy as it sounds as the League One outfit would throw everything at the Lilywhites.

The only way Spurs could prevent an upset is if they manage to stick to the objective at hand and focus on their gameplan. Thomas Frank will also hope that his team strike early in the game against the Rovers so that it kills the opposition’s confidence completely, preventing any chance of giving them an inch to come back into the tie.
