Former Brentford coach Justin Cochrane is set to join Thomas Frank’s backroom staff at Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur are set to complete the appointment of Thomas Frank after an agreement was struck with Brentford. He is set to become Spurs’ 15th manager under the leadership of chairman Daniel Levy.

After seven successful years at Brentford, Thomas Frank appears to have been fascinated by the Lilywhites’ project and the direction in which the club is heading. On the other hand, the North Londoners have been impressed by the Dane’s work at the Gtech Community Stadium over the years and feel he is the right man to succeed Ange Postecoglou, who was relieved off his duties last week despite guiding the club to Europa League success in Bilbao in May.

Now, there has been an important update with regards to Thomas Frank’s appointment as new Spurs boss.

According to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein, Tottenham have also managed to strike an agreement with the Bees to bring in Justin Cochrane as Frank’s assistant coach. Brentford wanted Justin Cochrane to stay at the club, while there was interest in him from other clubs. However, he wants to follow Frank to N17, joining Chris Haslam & Joe Newton as part of the new backroom staff.

It is no surprise that Frank wants Justin Cochrane as his immediate assistant coach at White Hart Lane. The 43-year-old has been one of the Dane’s assistant coaches at Brentford and someone who is valued highly as part of his coaching set-up. As per Football London correspondent Alasdair Gold, Cochrane is an ex-Tottenham coach having worked with their youth set-up and is also a close friend of current Spurs staff Matty Wells.

David Ornstein also confirmed that the deal to bring Frank to the Hotspur Way was being held up by the situation of Cochrane, with Brentford hoping to keep him at the club. An appointment is now edging closer to completion, with the North Londoners set to have Frank and his coaching staff in time for the pre-season starting in July.

Once the managerial situation is sorted out, the entire focus will be shifted towards the recruitment. Tottenham face a crucial summer and the recruitment has to be spot on to kick-off a new era. Frank will have some of his targets that Spurs may consider bringing in, with a few Brentford players predictably linked with a move to N17.

Fans will be excited to watch the players that are brought in during this summer transfer window as part of the squad rebuild.
