One key statistic looks very encouraging for Inter Milan new boy Manuel Akanji as he looks to stop Kenan Yildiz for Juventus.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, note that the Swiss international won 93.6% of his defensive duels last season, the most in the Premier League.

Manuel Akanji looks likely to start for Inter against Juventus.

Nerazzurri coach Cristian Chivu is ready to throw the 30-year-old straight into the action in a huge fixture in the Derby d’Italia.

Yann Bisseck would also be a candidate. And the German certainly is the option who understands the system better.

However, Chivu will be thinking about which defender he believes can best lock down Bianconeri danger man Kenan Yildiz.

As the Gazzetta note, it would not be without reason for Chivu to trust Akanji against Yildiz.

The 30-year-old won 93.6% of his defensive duels for Manchester City in the Premier League last season.

That is the highest percentage of any defender in the English top flight. And it is a clear indicator of why Inter signed Akanji.

Therefore, reports the Gazzetta, the Swiss international will have a perfect chance to announce himself.
