Real Madrid have turned to one of sport’s most recognisable fighters as they look for an edge in the final stretch of the season.
With a Champions League Quarter-Final on the horizon, every bit of help matters. That’s why they’ve brought in Khabib Nurmagomedov, whose approach to training and discipline is widely respected across the sporting world.
The former UFC lightweight champion walked away from competition with a perfect 29-0 record and has since become a coach, leading Islam Makhachev to two world titles. Away from fighting, Khabib is known for his love of football, even though he supports Manchester United.
Khabib Nurmagomedov has been spotted training alongside several Real Madrid players, including Jude Bellingham, who took the opportunity to repeat his famous “send me location” catchphrase from his rivalry with Conor McGregor.
Valverde later honoured Pereira by gifting him a match-worn jersey following his win in a promotional debut. The two shared a brief conversation and posed for photos before parting ways. The event seemed to have an impact on Valverde, as he later celebrated a goal against Atletico by mimicking Pereira’s punch celebration.
However, Valverde’s enthusiasm may have crossed the line, as he was sent off after scoring the decisive goal in Real Madrid’s 3-2 victory.
