Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall took the spotlight again on Saturday, helping Everton to another win, this time over Nottingham Forest.
Since his move in the summer, the 27-year-old midfielder has found new life at Goodison Park, looking nothing like the player who struggled for minutes at Chelsea.
Dewsbury-Hall bagged his fourth goal of the season against Forest and the third in his last four games, showing just how much confidence he has gained under David Moyes.
Moyes highlighted how regular game time has helped the Briton get back to his best.
Dewsbury-Hall’s return to form mirrors what he showed during his Leicester City days, thanks to a consistent run of starts under Moyes.
Now settled on Merseyside, the midfielder recently mentioned which player used to get under his skin before he joined the club.
Dewsbury-Hall spoke highly of the Everton fans after his latest goal, and he has quickly found his place in the squad, becoming popular among both supporters and teammates.
Despite this, he admitted in an interview with the club website that things did not start off smoothly between him and Seamus Coleman.
“I don’t want to sound like a broken record and say what everyone else says, because I think everyone knows what a top captain and player he is,” he began by saying.
“As a person, he’s just as good. I’m really thankful we’re so similar, which has made it very easy to get on with him.
“It’s funny because he actually annoyed me a few times when we’ve played against each other in the past and I wasn’t sure how we were going to get on but it couldn’t have been better. We have the same banter, we laugh at the same things, we get annoyed by the same things. I have so much respect for him.”
Moyes has often pointed to Coleman as someone who leads by example, both during matches and around Finch Farm.
There are not many at Everton who would speak negatively about the Republic of Ireland international now. Dewsbury-Hall is one of many players who have come to appreciate what Coleman brings to this squad since joining.
His recent form has led some Everton supporters to call for Dewsbury-Hall to be named the club’s next captain.
With Coleman sidelined, Tarkowski has taken over captaincy duties, but that could change in the coming seasons.
Dewsbury-Hall joined in January and has quickly become a key figure, showing he can play multiple roles across midfield. His current run of form speaks of a player who understands what it takes for Everton to push into European contention.
The Friedkin Group are big fans, not just because of his goal contributions, but also due to his professionalism and presence around the club.
Everton look like they have landed a real leader this time.
