Today, Manchester United news has been dominated by the sacking of Ruben Amorim, with one man in question hoping to benefit from the decision, Kobbie Mainoo.

The former England international saw a massive breakthrough from the United academy under Erik ten Hag, one which was then halted by Amorim.

Under the Dutchman, Mainoo became a regular starter for United and England, earning a Golden Boy nomination and was tipped to be the future of the club.

Then, once Amorim replaced ten Hag, Mainoo fell out of favour.

The Portuguese manager demoted Kobbie Mainoo to the bench, only making cameo appearances this season, losing his spot in the England team.

The decision from the now-former United boss saw Mainoo request a loan spell away from Old Trafford, just to get more game time.

Ultimately the club rejected the request, however new reports have now emerged about a major breakdown in the pair’s relationship before the summer.

The Sun has revealed that inside sources described a “shouting match” between Ruben Amorim and Kobbie Mainoo at Carrington at the end of last season.

Tensions between the pair have seemingly only gotten worse, with Mainoo’s family clearly not fans of his current sitaution at Old Trafford.

Mainoo’s brother was seen at the Theatre of Dreams as they drew 4-4 to Bournemouth, wearing a “Free Kobbie Mainoo” t-shirt.

The slogan was seemingly referencing not only the club’s unwillingness to even let the 20-year-old go out on loan, but also Amorim’s approach to him.

Amorim pittted Mainoo against Bruno Fernandes for game time, which, considering Fernandes’ role as the club captain, and often, match-day saviour, it was as good as saying Mainoo isn’t playing.

Now, with Amorim gone, it could see Mainoo get the opportunity to fight once more for his future with his boyhood club.
