Kvaratskhelia remains huge doubt for PSG against Atalanta

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia remains a major doubt to play for Paris Saint-Germain against Atalanta in the Champions League opening fixture.

It kicks off at Parc des Princes on Wednesday at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

Both teams have some injury problems to worry about, as La Dea made the trip to Paris without Ederson, Gianluca Scamacca and Mitchel Bakker.

They also left Ademola Lookman behind, although that was not dictated by his fitness, but rather his attitude in training after failing to force through a summer exit.

Kvaratskhelia in doubt to play PSG vs. Atalanta

Paris Saint-Germain will begin the defence of their Champions League trophy, but Kvaratskhelia is a huge doubt after limping off during the first half of their 2-0 Ligue 1 victory over Lens on Sunday.

The former Napoli star sustained a calf injury following a crunching tackle and only worked in the gym today.

Although he will probably be included in the squad list, a final decision on his presence will only be made on Wednesday.

Lee Kang-in is also struggling with foot pain, so 17-year-old Ibrahim Mbaye could get his Champions League debut.

Another option would be to move Nuno Mendes forward, using Lucas Hernandez at left-back instead.
