The teenager is currently plying his trade at River Plate FC.

Tottenham have made quite a statement in bringing Roberto De Zerbi to the helm at Hotspur Way, but while his arrival is expected to change a lot about the course of transfers that the Lilywhites sanction, it looks like it will not push Spurs away from the transfer strategy of signing young players that they have adopted in the past couple of years.

Daniel Levy, in his final years, ensured that the North Londoners picked up a transfer strategy of signing highly regarded young players and developed them through the corridors at N17. And that has continued even after he vacated his post last summer.

As under-fire Tottenham chief Johan Lange continues to row the boat in the same direction, the Lilywhites are looking to bring in another highly rated teenager who is making waves in South American football with River Plate.

Tottenham are looking to accelerate Ian Subiabre’s move to Europe as they look to bring him to Hotspur Way.

Tottenham pushing for Ian Subiabre transfer

Ian Subiabre has always been highly rated, given Spurs have established links with him for a while now and the club has followed him (and his progress) for some time. But it looks like Tottenham are now looking to convert that interest into a transfer.

There has been news of Chelsea and Arsenal looking to go into a tug of war for his signature, but a recent report from El Intransigente doesn’t mention both of Spurs’ London rivals and instead goes on to claim that the Liltwhites are to ‘accelerate’ their pursuit for him, which has already started ‘alarm bells’ at River Plate.

Alongside Tottenham, an unnamed German side is also said to have made a contract to ask about Ian.

Ian Subiabre will not come cheap

But his services won’t come cheap given River Plate are holding their ground and citing his €100m release clause as a fee that would take for them to sell Subiabre, but journalist Hernán Castillo last December indicated that the Argentine giants would be willing to sit down at the table for a possible €10-15m sale despite his hefty release clause.

We will see where this one goes, but it looks like Tottenham have already started identifying players and laying a transfer blueprint for the summer to come with a massive squad overhaul expected at Hotspur Way.
