Latest Injury and Team News Ahead of Sunderland vs Wolves

Sunderland take on the Premier League’s bottom club, Wolves, this weekend at the Stadium of Light. The Black Cats will be without six players due to either injury or suspension. They also have two players who returned from international duty with injuries; however, they will be hoping these two will be available for selection should all go well in training. The visitors have three doubts, but one player is available to return to the squad.

Dennis Cirkin – Has begun light training following a wrist injury that has hampered him for some time. Expected back in full training within two weeks.

Reinildo – Will serve the last of his three-game ban against Wolves and will be available for selection against Chelsea.

Aji Alese – Absent since January but has now returned to training; however, he is not expected to be available for selection until next month.

Leo Hjelde – Had surgery on both Achilles during the summer but is now back in light training. Expected to return to full training in the next two weeks.

Romain Mundle – Injured during pre-season, the winger is not expected to be back in contention until after the next international break.

Habib Diarra – The summer signing has had surgery on his groin injury but is not expected back until December.

Doubts

Omar Alderete – Was substituted with a muscle injury while on international duty with Paraguay. It is not believed to be an injury that will stop him from playing this weekend, should he get through training without any issues.

Noah Sadiki – Suffered an ankle sprain while on international duty. It is not as bad as first feared and could play should he get through training without any problems.

Leon Chiwome – Ruptured his ACL over a year ago; however, he could be back by the end of the year.

Doubts

Hwang Hee-chan – Has a small injury according to Victor Pereira in his pre-match press conference, and is one most likely to be missing.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde – Suffering from an illness, according to boss Vitor Pereira. A late decision is expected as to whether he is able to take part.

Matt Doherty – Missed the last game after surgery on his wrist. He is back in training, so could feature.

Available

Toti Gomes – Had been suffering from flu but appears to have recovered sufficiently to be available for selection.
