Lautaro Martinez Claps Back, Relishes Time at Inter

Lautaro Martinez once again professed his attachment to Inter while talking from Argentina during the international break. He gave an interview to Tyc Sports (via Sky).

“I’m having a nice moment, and I didn’t expect to get to this point considering the connection of the team with my compatriots. I’ve had the chance to spend six years here. My goal now is to be part of the history of the club. We keep working day after day to give the fans some joy. They have treated me incredibly well since I arrived.”

Martinez is open to playing in the Olympics despite the extra busy schedule next season.

“If Javier Mascherano wants to rely on me, I’m always available. It’d be a privilege. It wouldn’t depend just on me. We’d have to talk with my team, but I’ll do everything in my power to be present.”

Participating in the competition would affect his preseason preparation and likely force him to miss the early Serie A games since it could potentially last until mid-August.

Martinez answered to Milan icon Alessandro Costacurta, who’s a pundit.

“I think he said that I don’t do well in key matches, but that’s not true. I guess he didn’t count the goal against the Rossoneri in the Champions League semifinal in one of the most important games in the history of both clubs. He should take a look at that and at many other fixtures.”
