Lazio are reportedly open to selling Sunderland target Matteo Guendouzi, as they would reinvest the cash in Giovanni Fabbian.

The Aquile are bracing themselves for what should be a chaotic January, at least if they succeed in lifting the transfer ban in the next few weeks, as promised by Claudio Lotito. The club will be aiming to bolster Maurizio Sarri’s ranks with at least three new additions. However, they could also part ways with some of their current players to fund their January signings.

In recent days, it has been reported that Guendouzi is no longer considered ‘untouchable’ at Lazio, especially after a series of uninspiring displays in the middle of the park. This coincided with rekindled interest from the Premier League’s ultimate Dark Horse, Sunderland.

The Black Cats are managed by Bris Le Regis, who worked with the 26-year-old during his early days at Lorient. The head coach admitted that the former Arsenal and Olympique Marseille star is one of the names followed by the club.

According to Il Messaggero, Lazio are willing to consider offers for Guendouzi in the region of €25-30 million. The source claims that the Biancocelesti would then splash the cash on Bologna’s Fabbian, who has been on Angelo Fabiani’s radar for quite some time now.

The Inter Milan youth product has been plying his trade at the Renato Dall’Ara since 2023, but this season, he has dropped down Vincenzo Italiano’s pecking order. He has thus far made 11 appearances between Serie A and the Champions League, but only five as a starter. The 22-year-old is originally an attacking midfielder, but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder if required.
